A Glyd Ring is a two-piece combined seal consisting of a PTFE seal ring and an elastomer O-ring energizer. The O-ring provides constant radial preload against the cylinder wall or rod, while the PTFE ring provides low-friction sliding and wear resistance. This design combines the chemical resistance of PTFE with the resilient sealing force of an O-ring — ideal for hydraulic cylinder piston and rod sealing applications.

Step-cut (Z-cut) is recommended for most applications — it provides the best sealing with minimal leakage. Bevel-cut (angle-cut) allows easier installation and is preferred for larger diameters or field replacement. Butt-cut (straight-cut) is the simplest and most economical, suitable for low-pressure applications. Our engineers will recommend the optimal cut type based on your pressure, installation method, and service conditions.

All our glyd rings use PTFE filled with bronze powder — the industry standard for hydraulic cylinder seals. The bronze content determines performance: 40% bronze is the standard formulation for general hydraulic applications with good wear resistance and heat dissipation. 55% bronze provides superior thermal conductivity and compressive strength for high-pressure and high-speed cylinders. 60% bronze delivers maximum wear resistance and thermal transfer for heavy-duty continuous-operation cylinders. Our engineers will recommend the optimal bronze content based on your pressure, speed, and duty cycle.
